4-H Youth Development
The Putnam County 4-H program is under the direction of Jason Hedrick, Extension Educator. The 4-H program is
alive and well in Putnam County. Over 600 county youth were enrolled in the 2009 4-H program. In addition over 100 first through third graders were enrolled in the Cloverbud program. A total of 27 4-H clubs are active in the county, with over 175 adult volunteers. For more information on the program click on 4-H Youth Development under County Topics.
Master Gardener Program
The Putnam County Master Gardener Program was started in Putnam County in 1994. So far 94 Putnam County residents have completed the program. If you have a love for gardening, flowers, plants, and an interest in flying insects you would make a great Master Gardener. Family Nutrition Program
The Family Nutrition Program teaches participants about nutrition, meal
planning, food shopping and food safety. The target audiences for the program are adults with limited resources. The program is sponsored by a grant of the Midwest Region Food and Consumer Service, United States Department of Agriculture.
